Oct. 1/2: San Francisco and Yosemite Day One

On October 1st, day 16, we crossed the Golden Gate Bridge into San Francisco. We spent most of the morning at an internet cafe, and then spent the afternoon wandering around the Fisherman's Wharf area of the city, stopping for lunch for our first experience at In-N-Out Burger. While the burgers, fries, and shakes were good, I will say that I believe Five Guys is better.

We left San Fran at around 16:00, and drove towards Yosemite for a few hours before stopping at a reststop along the way.

The next morning, we left the reststop around 7:30, and arrived in Yosemite around 9:30. We spent the day orienting ourselves with the park and the village, and got a campsite at Tamarack Flat, which unfortunately is a ways out of the valley, but was all that was available. Around 15:00, we headed towards Taft Point, where we ate our dinner and watched the sunset. The sunset was easily in the top three I've seen so far.

After the sunset, we hiked back to the vehicle, and started driving to the campground. However, we found the road was closed due to weather, so we backtracked a couple minutes to Crane Flat campground where we parked along a road and spent the night.

Sunrise over San Francisco. This was our view from the reststop in the morning.

Another view we woke up to.
